How to turn your weekend break into a romantic getaway.

Choosing the perfect hotel is a great way of creating a special atmosphere and helping you to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're looking to celebrate an anniversary, or birthday, or just want to spend some quality time with your partner, here are some tips on how to make your weekend hotel break romantic:

1. Choose the right hotel

Naturally! Look for a hotel that has a romantic atmosphere thanks to its, ambience and facilities.  Some will love a spa, others a fine dining experience.  What does romance look like for you as a couple?

Also, consider the location of the hotel.  Is a city break visiting inspirational architecture something you love? Or perhaps being close to nature or a beach or on peaceful walking trails?  Any of these can add to the romantic ambience of the weekend if they mean something to you both.

2. Plan some surprises

You need to be careful with this one, but if your partner is delighted by surprises, you might choose to factor some in.  Grand gestures aren’t always necessary; the smallest gesture can make your romantic weekend break all the more special.   This could be anything from arranging for a bottle of champagne to be delivered to your room, planning a surprise activity, or simply planning activities that your partner enjoys; it might be anything from a romantic boat cruise to hiring bicycles for a day.

3. Pack some romantic essentials

When packing for your romantic weekend hotel break, be sure to pack some romantic essentials to help set the mood! This could include candles (if the hotel allows them), massage oils, and rose petals. You could also create a romantic playlist to play in your room or download your favourite film to watch together at the end of the day.

4. Take time to relax

One of the best things about a romantic hotel break is that you don't have to worry about the humdrum of everyday life. Take advantage of this and spend some time relaxing with your partner. Enjoy taking a long bath together, or simply spend some time just being and enjoying each other's company.

5. Explore the local area

While it's important to relax and enjoy your hotel break, it's also a great opportunity to explore the local area. Go for an early morning walk, visit a local restaurant, or take a day trip to a nearby attraction. This will give you the chance to create some special memories together and experience something new as a couple.
